- To peer and self-assess the completed 'Magazine Film Review' submissions.
- To negotiate, within groups, a treatment for the main 'short' film task.
- To present a rough treatment following the negotiations.

In this lesson we will examine each of the 'Magazine Film Reviews' submitted by individual students. Each submission will be scrutinised and assessed by your peers against the following criteria; authenticity, font style & size, colour choices and layout accuracy (including justification of text, pictures and runaround).
A significant amount of time will then be set aside to negotiate a final treatment for your group's short. When evaluating each idea from each individual in your group, you should consider originality, practicality, opportunities to be creative and, of course, whether you are going to enjoy making it! In reality, the final group treatment, although roughly based around a single individual's idea and title, often takes elements from the other members' ideas, resulting in the creation of a single, fantastic idea that everyone is enthusiastic about. Remember though, there is a fine line between 'highly imaginative' and 'technically impossible'. For some of your more ambitious scenes, perhaps it would be sensible to have two options; one 'ambitious' and one 'definitely do-able'. I don't want to stifle creativity, in fact I really encourage you to be brave and ambitious, but you can't afford to have 'dodgy' images in your final submission. Test shoots and good time planning are the key to success!
REMINDER : You will need to bring your original treatments.
At the end of this lesson your group will briefly present a rough treatment to the class, acknowledging the source of each element of your story (whose idea was it?).
Homework;
- The start of your research & planning entries on your new A2 Advanced Portfolio blog; list the roles and responsibilities that will need to be allocated to group members next week, the potential technical and administrative difficulties that you may encounter during the production process of your film (specific to your treatment idea, not generic) and name two films (each) that you are going to watch in order to determine appropriate conventions, character development, location design, etc for your film (you will be required to acquire and view your two films in the near future). Perhaps embed trailers for the films you think will be useful. A peer-assessment task in next week's lesson will determine the value of your research/planning homework.
- Construct an 'Empire' magazine cover using QuarkXpress, similar to the example on the Documents page. Examine the conventions of the example before starting your own and make sure that you include all elements from the example. Export as a pdf (!) and email to gavin.hood@gwpahs.org before the end of FRIDAY 30th Sep
